The University of Nigeria Essayists’ Group is an association of national and international award-winning essayists and writers from all campuses of the University of Nigeria. We have proudly represented the University and won prestigious essay competitions such as the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Essay Competition, the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) Essay Competition, the DigitalSENSE Essay Competition, the Nigeria Higher Education Foundation (NHEF) Essay Competition, Ships and Ports Essay Competition, Women Aid Collective Essay Competition, African Organization for Standardization/Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) Essay Competition, Peter Drucker Challenge Essay Competition, IRUL in collaboration with United Nations Population Fund Worldwide Youth Essay Competition, and many others.
Simply put, we spread terror wherever we enter. 😁
The group was formed in 2015 to mutually encourage art literature, share tips for winning academic contests, and groom writers/essayists that will continue to represent the university in national and international essay competitions and other academic contests.
Behind the Logo
Here’s a brief explanation of our logo:
- Green: Despite being the official colour of the University of Nigeria, the colour green signifies life, hope, vitality, and growth. And all these values are intrinsic to us as a family.
- Gold: The colour gold signifies nobility and royalty. We aren’t just lions and lionesses; we’re kings and queens.
- Standing Lion: The standing lion represents agility and courage. As members of UNEG, we rise to every challenge – we are the boldest.
- Our Motto: “Gradiens per enses ire formidas” is Latin for “treading where swords fear to.”
